"Production Design for Feature Animation"

The workshop exposes students to production design techniques used in feature animation reaching from early visual development over world building into CG execution. Patrick will share lots of samples of his work, everyday processes and situations dealt with in feature animation art departments as will as a set of quick demos in which he will share his everyday techniques for designing a movie. 

Patrick was born in Melbourne, Australia and raised in Wiesbaden, Germany. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Industrial & Graphic Design at the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Transportation Design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. During his studies he fell in love with Feature Animation after completing an internship at Pixar, where he had the chance to briefly work on "The Incredibles". 9 years later Patrick was the Production Designer for the DreamWorks film, "Rise of the Guardians". During his time at DreamWorks Animation Patrick also worked as an Art Director and Visual Development Artist on many titles for the studio such as "Croods", "Monsters vs. Aliens", "Over the Hedge" and many others. After DreamWorks Patrick spent a year in NexGen gaming working as a Visual Consultant on the Xbox One release title "Ryse Son of Rome".
